OUR STORY
Little Duck is more than just a rent-a-rack business; it's a labour of love.

If you could go back in time and tell Melbourne-based mum Loz about Little Duck when she was in her early months of motherhood; she’d probably hug you (and might even fall asleep on your shoulder).
While grateful for her healthy and growing baby, Loz just simply couldn’t believe how quickly he grew out of his clothes! Among the countless overwhelming tasks faced by new parents, she was navigating how to part ways with her infant son’s beautiful and barely-worn baby clothes.
She turned to Facebook Marketplace, which had seemed easy before – but this solution quickly became a nightmare. If people weren’t making lowball offers, they were acting hot and cold, stringing her along before completely ghosting her (which Loz had thought she’d left behind when she got married years earlier).
When sales did happen, the doorbell would surely ring just as her son had gotten to sleep. Loz also found security was at the forefront of her mind, now being at home alone with her little boy trying to resell these items. If buyers agreed to pay postage fees, the post office would close 5 minutes after she’d finally made it to send items off. Before becoming a parent, Loz was never late for anything – but she ran on baby time now, and he didn’t seem overly interested in running errands! It was overwhelming, uncomfortable, and showed no signs of slowing down as her son graduated into a new size.

She often donated to charity shops around Melbourne, but knew she could sell some of the precious, high-quality items if only she weren’t so defeated by Facebook Marketplace – unlike baby clothes, cash was something she did not have a never-ending pile of while on maternity leave!

Loz felt it all – guilty for buying new sizes when old clothes had gone to waste; overwhelmed by Facebook Marketplace; sad that her son was growing up so fast; unsure whether to keep items for any future kids – all while trying to just get a good night’s sleep. And one night, just before she could catch some of that elusive sleep, Loz remembered the bag of clothes in her son’s wardrobe that she still hadn’t tackled and thought, rather helplessly, “I just wish I could leave that bag somewhere and come back a week later to pick up my cash.” And so, the idea for Little Duck was born.

Needless to say, Loz didn’t get to sleep that night after all. She set about building Little Duck: a safe and easy way for parents to sell their children's preloved items, without having to deal with the quacks on online marketplaces. A place where parents could buy and sell preloved clothes, shoes and accessories, minimising waste and creating a more sustainable future for their little ones. Here, they could turn those tiny, beautiful pieces into a bit of extra cash, and something more – an inclusive and helpful alternative that would make any sleep-deprived, new parent want to hug you.
